Psychosocial skills toolbox

Les compétences émotionnelles

In partnership with the Cités Éducatives* Marseille Nord and the Marseille Nord Estaque constituency team (Éducation Nationale), we have put together a “toolbox” for teachers of the final year of nursery and Year 1 to help them set up activities to develop PSBs.

The development of PSS is an integral part of the educational health course created by law no. 2013-595 of July 8, 2013 on the orientation and planning for the overhaul of the school of the Republic. The PSS have thus been put into perspective with the five domains that constitute the common core of knowledge, skills and culture established by decree no. 2015-372 of March 31, 2015. The latter also provides a favorable framework for learning psychosocial skills.

Based on the observation that the development of CPS requires long-term investment and regularity to be effective, and that teachers lack time and resources to learn about these tools, we wanted to offer a tool prior to actual training, to enable them to familiarize themselves with CPS and see the initial benefits of real integration into the educational curriculum.

The activities are divided into four main themes, which focus on the three emotional competencies, becoming aware of emotions and stress, regulating emotions, managing stress. It is structured in such a way as to encourage children to gradually come into contact with their feelings. The first activities thus focus on body awareness and sensations, prior to the last activities focusing on the identification and expression of emotions (it is necessary to be able to connect with one's body and sensations in order to be able to identify that a particular emotion is going through us). The teacher is invited to make his or her own selection of activities, respecting this progression.

Teaching children to identify and regulate their emotions is to give them important tools to get to know themselves and live in harmony.. Emotionally intelligent children find it easier to understand their needs and how to meet them. They are also able to regulate their anger rather than projecting it onto others.

Nous avons pensé cet outil afin qu’il soit le plus accessible et simple d’utilisation possible. We would like it to be distributed to as many people as possible without financial compensation.
